He completed primary school in Kisorosz and gymnasium (1963) in Nagybecskerek. From 1963, he was a student at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Department of Physics, at the University of Novi Sad, then from 1964 to 1965, at the Faculty of Arts, Department of Hungarian. In 1972, he earned a university degree in psychology from ELTE. In 1974, he obtained a doctorate in humanities in Budapest, and in 1975, a doctoral degree in Zagreb (The Phenomenon of Suicide). Between 1974 and 1975, he was a suicide researcher at the Heim Pál Children's Hospital in Pest. From 1975 to 1980, he worked as an industrial psychologist at the Potisje factory in Ada. From 1980 to 1994 and from 2003 to 2004, he was a clinical psychologist at the health center in Ada. Between 1989 and 1991, he was the director of the Selye-Szabó Stress Research Institute in Ada, which he founded. From 2001, he served as the director of the István Széchenyi Strategy Research and Development Institute, which he established. Between 2004 and 2006, he was a psychologist at the Bolyai Talent Management Gymnasium and Dormitory in Senta.
