He completed primary school and gymnasium (1971) in Senta. In 1978, he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Novi Sad. In 1983, he obtained a specialist medical qualification in Belgrade. In 1984, he earned his master's degree in Novi Sad, in 1991 he became a primarius, and in 1996 he defended his doctoral thesis in Belgrade (Cryopreservation of Bone Marrow Cells for Bone Marrow Transplantation). From 1978 to 1980, he worked as a physician and lecturer at the Secondary Medical School in Senta. From 1980, he was a physician at the Institute of Transfusiology and Hematology of the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade, becoming head of department in 2010. From 2005, he was a full university professor and ministerial scientific advisor. He is a lecturer in postgraduate training at the Faculties of Medicine in Belgrade and Novi Sad, and at the European School of Transfusiology based in Milan. From 2025, he will be the Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation. He is the author of hundreds of scientific works, leader of scientific projects, editor of domestic and foreign professional journals, and a member of European and national scientific societies. He has received numerous professional and national awards.
