In 1983, he obtained a specialist medical qualification in Belgrade. In 1984, he earned his master's degree in Novi Sad, in 1991 he became a primarius, and in 1996 he defended his doctoral thesis in Belgrade (Cryopreservation of Bone Marrow Cells for Bone Marrow Transplantation). From 1978 to 1980, he worked as a physician and lecturer at the Secondary Medical School in Senta. From 1980, he was a physician at the Institute of Transfusiology and Hematology of the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade, becoming head of department in 2010. From 2005, he was a full university professor and ministerial scientific advisor. He is a lecturer in postgraduate training at the Faculties of Medicine in Belgrade and Novi Sad, and at the European School of Transfusiology based in Milan.
