Jenő Gubás's sociological work is pioneering in the research of the reality of Hungarians living in Yugoslavia. It outlines a sociopathological diagnosis of Majdány, a village in Banat. He has no prejudices or unnecessary inhibitions. He expresses a strict opinion, but not independently of the data, the questionnaires filled out by intellectuals and ordinary people living in the village. Instead of self-serving knowledge and description, his goal is to awaken and make people aware of their tasks. He is well aware that human existence and culture are inseparable from fundamental conservative values, that is, from the ideal of national development.
For this reason, he studies the causes and phenomena that hinder this. His attitude can also be characterized as moralistic, as instead of limiting himself to investigative journalism, he constantly raises the question of responsibility, and although he examines the external circumstances as comprehensively as possible when studying the decline in the Hungarian population...
