Self-taught. Apprentice in a book and paper shop, then head of the Huszadik Század publishing office. He spent three years in London and one year in Paris. He returned home before the outbreak of World War I. In 1919, he edited Corviná, the journal of Hungarian book publishers and booksellers. After the fall of the Hungarian Soviet Republic, he emigrated to Vienna, then moved to Subotica in 1926, where he established a book and periodical distribution company called Literária. He played a significant role in organizing book publishing in Yugoslavia and in the publication and distribution of volumes for the Kalangya Könyvtár and the Jugoszláviai Magyar Könyvtár. In 1934, Literária's import license was revoked, after which Ferenc Kende managed the publishing office of the Novi Sad-based Reggeli Újság. In 1941, he moved to Hungary. From 1932 to 1938, he published short stories, articles, and studies in Kalangya. Between 1933 and 1937, he was co-editor of Kalangya. He published in Hétről-Hétré. He is featured in the short story anthologies Ákácok alatt (1933), A diófa árnyékában (1942), and Délvidéki elbeszélők (n.d.).
