Jung Tamás

He completed elementary school in Székelykeve and high school in Nagybecskerek. He pursued philosophical and theological studies with the Jesuits in Frankfurt. In 1936, he was ordained a priest in Nagybecskerek. In 1936, he served in Versec, in 1937 in Hódegyháza, in 1939 in Beodra, and in 1943 in Écska and Muzslya. From 1949, he was dean in Nagybecskerek. In 1965, due to a conflict with the authorities, he resigned from his position and served as an assistant parish priest. From 1967, he was again dean. In 1971, he was appointed titular bishop and apostolic administrator of the Apostolic Administration of Banat. In 1986, the Pope elevated the Apostolic Administration of Banat to a Diocese and appointed Tamás Jung as its administrator.

In 2022, a statue was erected in Székelykeve in memory of Bishop Tamás Jung.
