Flap Text

Our book is about a unique art colony in Vojvodina, established about three decades ago specifically to nurture young artists, whose history can still be revived through a dive into the past. The textual analysis, with the help of numerous documents and photographs from the art colony, elevates the TAKT phenomenon into the realm of living legends from a three-decade perspective.
The author's intention is to provide a worthy portrayal of the work of the TAKT artistic community, its genre and intellectual diversity, which equally embraced respect for tradition, the intention for renewal, the enchantment of transavant-garde, and receptiveness to new intellectual movements: that is – unlike existing art colonies – TAKT never strived to mold young talents into a solid artistic community operating under a single ideological concept and making them homogeneous. The unity of those gathered around TAKT lay in their complete freedom to choose and pursue their paths. Perhaps this saved it from “fatigue,” allowing it to survive for about three decades. It began as a daring youth adventure, quickly grew into a movement, and although it always bore the marks of amateurism, today we remember it as an alternative event with a Carpathian Basin or East-Central European reach. A large proportion of TAKT participants never outgrew or denied their “amateurism” in the best sense of the word. Perhaps it is thanks to this unmasked honesty that many mature artists who started in Temerin gladly admit that their roots tie them to TAKT.
