János Sziveri was born in 1954 in Mužlja, Banat. He completed primary school in his native village and secondary school in Mostar and Zrenjanin. He is currently a student at the Department of Hungarian Language and Literature, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad. He edits the literary section of Képes Ifjúság. He has published his poems in almost all Hungarian newspapers in Yugoslavia. In 1975, he received the Golden Seal award from the city of Sremski Karlovci for his poems translated into Serbian. In addition to poems, he also writes art essays and, less frequently, short stories.
