Köralagút

“The poems and poem cycles in István P. Nagy’s second volume, titled Köralagút (Circular Tunnel), draw attention to the continuity of this poetry, to the process and progression that unfolds between the poems of the poet’s first and second volumes. The new poems organically build upon the poetic world that began to take shape in the first book of poems, Alkalmatlan évszak (Inappropriate Season). The similarity between the two bodies of work is indicated primarily by the sense of coldness and determinism, the balanced versification, the diction, the concise, beautiful snapshots appearing in both contexts, the cycles with similar content, the deepening, the greater degree of refinement, and the tighter poetic discourse... In this way, the poems of Köralagút deepen István P. Nagy’s poetic world, and as his vision is more refined and his poetic tools more convincing, they simultaneously demonstrate his poetic development.”
