He completed primary and secondary school in Novi Sad, then graduated from the Department of History at the Faculty of Philosophy in 1979. In 1988, he obtained his doctorate in history in Belgrade with his dissertation titled Srbi i Srbija u mađarskoj istoriografiji XIX veka. From 1979 to 2012, he worked at the Novi Sad City Museum, becoming a museum advisor in 2002, and then director of the Museum of Vojvodina from 2012 to 2016. Numerous studies by him have been published both domestically and internationally in Hungarian, Serbian, German, and English.
