He completed primary school in Törökkanizsa and Ürményháza, and secondary school (1949) in Nagybecskerek. In 1952, he graduated from the College of Pharmacy in Novi Sad. Between 1950 and 1985, he worked as a pharmacist in Nagybecskerek.
