He completed primary school in Székelykeve, and gymnasium in Pančevo and Zrenjanin. In 1964, he graduated from the Faculty of Forestry at the University of Belgrade. From 1964 to 1984 and from 1989 to 1997, he worked at the Tamiš-Dunav Water Management Company. Between 1964 and 1974, he was a forestry engineer in Kevevára, and from 1974 to 1984, he was director in Pančevo. From 1984 to 1989, he served as president of the Pančevo municipal assembly. He is the founder of the Review of Hungarian Cultural Associations of South Banat.
