He completed primary school in Kisorosz and teacher training college in Subotica (1963). In 1975, he graduated from the Department of History at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad. From 1963 to 1965, he was a primary school teacher in Kisorosz. Between 1966 and 1974, he worked as an archivist at the Historical Archives in Kikinda. From 1975 to 1982, he served as secretary at the Cultural and Physical Education Interest Community of the Municipality of Kikinda, from 1983 to 1988 at the Socialist Alliance of the Municipality of Kikinda, and from 1989 to 2001 at the Municipal Council of the Federation of Trade Unions. Between 2001 and 2004, he again worked as an archivist at the Historical Archives in Kikinda.
