Flap Text

I drew the theme for Indiánregény (Indian Novel) from Dee Brown's book Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, or rather, I attempted to adapt one of its chapters, the trials of Captain Jack, into a novel. Following the narrative and chronology of events as read there, I did not find it necessary to change the names of the characters. Consequently, most of the figures in Indiánregény bear the names of real people who once lived, but in reality, these individuals, as they (hopefully) come to life on the pages of my writing, have only as much connection to their namesakes as the novel itself has to the events recounted in Dee Brown's book. However, there are also invented names and characters in the novel, foremost among them being Reverend Timothy Blessheart. The situation is similar with the geographical names appearing in the text, which I also adopted from Brown's book, knowing only as much about the places they designate as could be learned from the book in question. The only exception in this regard is the town of Petersfield, as there is either no such place in Oregon, or it exists without my knowledge.
