Mátyás Németh's Collection

Mátyás Németh, photographer and photojournalist, was born on November 13, 1939, in Temerin. From 1970 until his retirement in 1993, he worked as a photojournalist for the daily newspaper Magyar Szó. According to his credo, the role of photography, regardless of the subject, is to immortalize. And immortalization is a miracle cure against decay and oblivion. His favorite subjects include rural and farm life scenes, which he extensively captured in Temerin and almost all over Vojvodina.

In addition to photography, Mátyás Németh is also a persistent collector and researcher. He saves old photographs from oblivion. Thanks to his decades-long passion, he has amassed a wealth of valuable items, to the delight of ethnographers and local historians.

His collection includes his own works as well as old photographs he collected and reproduced.
