Ethnographic Collections – Country house museum in Belo Blato

Belo Blato is located 17 kilometers from Zrenjanin. Its population is composed of Slovaks, Hungarians, Bulgarians, and Serbs, and until the Second World War it also had a significant German population. The country house museum was established in 2005 at the initiative of the local "Bratstvo–jedinstvo" Elementary School. The building which has thatched-roof, open-chimney and walls made of rammed-earth was constructed from the ground up on a voluntary basis by local residents, following the model of the village’s oldest house. The collection includes material heritage associated with Hungarian, Bulgarian, Slovak, and German ethnic communities. It is particularly rich in textiles, especially traditional costume elements linked to the Slovak community.
